FROM THE POET

This is a series of poems written by John Svododa over a number of years. There are times of peak-where numerous poems were written & there are also times of lows where there are long periods between each poem. As the author is trying to reach a goal of 1001 (and then retire!!) it was never envisaged that this would be done over a short period of time. Poems can be humorous, ridiculing someone or something, show a meaning of hurt or love or even project feelings that not necessarily be directed to the same person/thing, can be a reflection of life or to be life. Most poems are trying to send a message to the reader be it not understandable or nonsense.

The idea of this poet is not to have any ill feelings against anyone but to be read by young whom can learn about life – and by the elderly look back at what could have been. Some are very personal- but who cares when you are currently living in a life that has total enjoyment. Suggestion is not to criticize but to take in the enjoyment of creative poetry make it meaningful and thus may be you can be an author.

Poem Number - Foreign Parents

This is the time we think of our sins against others that have passed away,
The ones that gave us life, suffered pain and nurtured us to growth, in each way,
They that paid for your clothes, food, drinks, drove us to school,
They that checked you report and sometime when from hot to cool.

They smacked us in need, they yelled as we had to be yelled,
They gave only food and water for one week for my words of back hand,
I not know that should I have  been listening more closer to them,
I would have been what they wanted me to be for them.

For I not knew the hard lives they lead in there country of origin,
Coming from wars where lives were lost in millions,
They they came here with no father, no mother and no brother or sister,
They that started a family with pride of joy no matter if it was girl or boy.

I now plead for their  the voices of Mum and Dad to be heard,
I now ask for they listen in heaven for my prayers to be heard,
I now ask God for forgiveness for not making me hear them, then,
I now know I much love they had for me and for to them.

As each year passes, as each month passes, as each day passes,
The great memmories shared are the great memories cared, in minutes,
For I am the son of parents that made my life easy to live,
And now as I remember them, have my children easier in their life.

Bless Mum And Dad

Poem Number - Happy Mother's Day Tomorrow!

Happy Mothers Day Tomorrow!

A mother is a woman that is special to all mankind,
A mother nurtures the young child in the womb into our great world,
She feels like the wind cooling you down in the hot sun,
She has the majestic powers to listen and talk to daughters and sons,
A mother has the experience of leading your child the right way,
A mother has such wisdom to make each day last to another day,
A mother knew her mother and wants to follow in the shadows of her steps,
A mother would like her child to lead their life and follow in her footsteps,
Yet a mother's nice word must be heard,
To listen to and be understood,
A mother will be that guide that you were looking for, when lost,
A mother will find the right way to take you out of the dark Forrest,
A mother is your mother that kisses and caresses you in joy,
A mother will be equal to her children: whether it be girl or boy,
A mother will jump over fences and swim in water to find you, if lost
A Mother will pick up your mess and leave you so cleaned!
Your mother will always be your mother even though she leaves this world,
So if she has treasure her love for her and tell her how you love her untold,
Take her out, shout her a meal, ring her up, visit her and pray for her,
as although Mother's Day is near - every day is Mother's Day forever!

Poem Number - Daughter Of Peace! 10/6/2014

A daughter is a sweet person that is like a golden rose,
She is feminine, soft, white as snow as she leans to grow,

She is the daughter that all parents hope for to have,
She is the daughter of proud parents, that gave her to birth.

A daughter will listen, learn, do and act the life she wants to have, in time,
A daughter will have easy decisions to make and make in a line,
A daughter will follow when young and later stand beside her parents,

A daughter will take the from the fishermen, the fish that needs to be cook and eaten,
A daughter will do her best to complete to her ability her highest education,
A daughter is the peacemaker when times of trouble,
A daughter will not get her feet wet in deep mud and rubble.

A daughter knows best when to care and love for others in deed,
A daughter is loved and to be loved by her marrying husband,
A daughter will have children so she will also be a mother,
A daughter will tend, feed, clothe her child and give it her wonderful nuture.

A daughter is a daughter forever, a mother in the future,
A daughter is a blossoming flower with such sweetness of scent,
A daughter is there and here, when her parents are needed and close to death,
A daughter says the words that places peoples hearts and lives, to rest in peace.

Poem Number 299 - Worries Of Lives Never Ending Families - 29/9/1988

To this day, the word 'work'  has been easy for me,
And yet I complain in spirit and with endurance,
for some 'work' id their life of families,
To support his or her partner, for life for their 'Youngers'.

And so comntinues the daily routine of the office paper network,
To do just what is instructed to them to do, and that is,
To go with full speed to plough through all the mess,
To do such easy work, yet by helping someone else out.

Poem Number 265 - I Dream To Meet - 8/2/1988

Last night arrived my Aunty Lucette and Uncle Andre,
It will be the first time when I will meet them one night on Tuesday,
My heart is so excited: my eyes are so delighted,
For my wife and myself to be meeting more of our family.

Little do they know I am so pleased they are here,
To be joining a pert of their lives in our bi-centennial year,
For they that laughed so much, had so much fun looking after, Mamman”,
Brings out tears of joy that explode from my eyes.

At first it was cousin Catherine, whom was bubbly all inside,
Then Olivier was fun, good and naughty,
But now, today (or tomorrow) the dream I dream to meet my ‘Lucette’ and ‘Andre”,
Has arrived after years of lonesome no happiness.

Poem Number 261 - Tears Or No Tears - 3/2/1988

As tears will drop from Nirmala’s cheek,
My eyes will be peeled to shining armour,
For the day to await this special day,
When a plane lands down in Sydney with her Mum, dad and Pretika.

Hugs will take up most of the emotions for the day,
Lost words, broken down conversation and different languages,
Will be the constant noises of voices whilst everyone gets to know each other,
A shake of the hand and may be a few kisses, I’ll give anyway.

For Nirmala it is a dream come true to reality,
A dream that has taken so many months for everyone to be re-united,
I won’t feel so excited and so emotional as Nirmala will,
Because they are my In-laws and I don’t know them that well.

I know that Nirmala has stopped counting the weeks and has gone to days,
And every few days I have been asked, ‘When are they coming to Australia?’
I just answer, ‘Why don’t you ring Michael up. He’ll tell you!’
‘No, do it for me. You haven’t spoken to Michael in a while!’

So I know how special,
This day will be to Nirmala,
Tears,
Or no tears!

Poem Number 233 - My Cousin Olivier Et Laurence - 10/12/1987

To arrive in a strange country of known,

To meet a family you haven’t met before,
Leaves such an excited feeling before arrival; to Australia,
For my funny cousin Olivier and his girlfriend Laurence.

It must have made it worse to learn of his cousin’s marriage,
To a special bride of beauty and excellence,
And within three days attend this lovely marriage,
Whilst providing a gift that took time to hand make.

For both cousins, I feel so pleased they make it along,
To be and feel part of such a newly extended family.
For Olivier who is a fun cousin who speaks very little good English,
And to Laurence who does not understand when I speak too fast.

My cousins of far away country of France,
My pronunciation of ‘Voici’ instead of ‘Tu” in French,
Our communication of English to French and to French to English translations,
Finally, everyone understands what one person is saying.

Such an experience it has been to finally meet ‘Olivier’,
Who in the past has mocked on the phone and letters,
Of me smoking with many cigarettes smoking out of my mouth,
Drawings of ‘Jean-Francois’ bearded with goatees and moustaches.

‘Ne pleur pas. Souri en peut!’
For my promise to you on my one and only wedding night,
That I want you to remember till the rest of your life,
Is that not only myself but also my new wife will be going to see everyone in France.

Poem Number 202 - Young Son - 12/2/1987

The olden days of remembrance, of my school days,
Reflect joy and the problems of reaching puberty.
In primary at St. Canice’s there were girlish games we played,
Hopscotch, movie stars and skipping, but we grew out of them!

I remember one day, I’ll never for forget till death,
Is the time that my teacher, pinned on myself: an envelope with stars
Somehow stating that I was the best pupil in the class, on that day,
And yet, I remember busting my guts, to get that award.

My Mum and Dad were wondering what I had on my shirt,
And when they finally read it (as they drove to pick me up,
Their surprised reaction showed overjoyment of satisfaction,
The faces of proudness, of their young son!

Poem Number 192 - Catherine: A Sweet Young Cousin - 6/12/1986

For Catherine with millions of smiles galore,
Is such a sweet young-minded cousin.
For I have not met all my cousins in or of France,
But for when I do, I will be keen to have more than a glance at Catherine.

As a sensible mature young lady of admirations,
Her traditional beauty is the good companionship she shares with everyone.
Her wonderful personality rises to show the kind and generous heart she was,
While comfortably laughing and enjoying family and good friendship.

With the wide range of interests and hobbies,
From tapestry-knitting, to the pleasure of horse-riding,
To reading, to bush walking (not on her own),
Catherine can bring a beautiful worldly picture, into the limelight.

Being a family girl since she was born,
To previously meeting her aunty and her cousins,
To keep on writing and talking to each one,
Until one day Catherine arrives here, to meet me.

I hope that that my vocabulary is quiet good,
I hope my character will show good.
I just really hope I don’t cry (with happiness),
When all: Catherine, Lucette and Andre arrive in Australia.

Poem Number 178 - The Mulot Family - 24/9/1986

I thought I only had my Australian family,
My Australian family, of Mum and Dad and Anne-Marie.
But now, my mother of great courage has traveled,
To resee and relive her family of much esteem.

I was scared that my mother, wouldn’t come back,
I tried hot to shed my dreaded tears away.
But, by drop and drop: they counted the days,
Of her overjoyment of reuniting this great family.

I telephone-called from thousands of miles away,
Just because I was jealous to miss her,
But as soon as I spoke no real feelings did I hide,
Just tender loving care of words, on another’s’ countryside.

For Anne-Marie, my sister of whom I would care and die for,
I didn’t realize such great brotherly love, I share for her.
As the weeks did turn the days so fast,
I was thinking of the hurt, I caused to her in the past.

If you look back at me, this very instant day,
No money, just be loving of the greater futures, in my way.
I feel as if I should know you all ‘Mulot Family’,
But not being or seeing anyone of you here, determines it to be that way.

All I can say for a large family of integrity,
Are that and what my Aunties and uncles had suffered through WW2.
In an experience that only you’ll share,
And that’s why your children with you, will care.

For cousins who aren’t married by their beauty,
They will, by the time of 1990, be man caring.
To such a lovable man who’ll won’t rip you off,
But be home by day and by night, and all the time.

For the young cousin, who is a thinkable man of prestige,
Let me share your experience of a lifetime.
Be it what come may. We are all of the same blood,
For let us all reunite with the gate of open floods.

The ‘Mulot family’ of love and personal strength,
May the world be lingered towards your golden hands.
I am John of man-like Mulot, of such kindness,
Open your hearts and minds; come over to see us, in Australia?

Poem Number 149 - Bringing Into Birth - 4/8/1986

So joyful to see a littler of pups,
And witness the end result of such pain.
To share such a great life, emerge in our world,
To think and imitate, the happiness of the little ones.

To be brought into new life,
A new life that will eventually be shared,
By the other families that will buy for a good price,
That will ensure and confirm that (no illtreatedness will be done!).

For now they can only feel around,
And pounce round to find a comfortable, restful spot.
They yet cannot see and won’t be able to see,
Even in three days of the eyes, widening apart.

Only within a week, to a week and a half,
Will the seven little ones, see their mother.
Their mother, who won’t let them out of her sight,
Their mother, who suffered from darkness to light.

Mother’s nature is full of surprises!
Mother’s nature is timid and feminine!
Mother’s nature is such wonderful memory of happiness,
When it comes to all sorts of animals, bring in to birth.

Poem Number 146 - Thanks, Family Of Mine - 30/7/1986

Thank you family, for helping me through,
Agony and pressure, in the last two years.
Your thoughts, words of wisdom and inspiration,
Have now aided me in getting me above water.

To Mum, who has never stopped and never will,
Through the good and bad of my first twenty-five.
With modest actions and most times in sadness,
Mum has pushed me through and now my head is above water.

To Dad, who will always laugh, be serious: at play,
At almost anything I say,
He who was there in the times I needed someone,
Had the courage and strength to make me grow.

To Anne-Marie, with my brotherly love,
Who at times has her own small pressures.
Yet, still puts up with me,
When I should’ve been the one in the family, standing up so tall.

There will never be enough words,
There will never be enough smiles and laughs,
And there will never be any shedded tears,
For me to describe the great gift, within our entire family.

Poem Number 136 - Mother-Son Love - 22/7/1986

To a more than special person I will always care for,
May you remember me in comfortable surroundings.
Whether it be at home or abroad,
With angels and crystal stars floating all around.

May the rest of your life, be in the affirmative,
With white Christmases and colored gifts: piled up.
To open each one with rewarding kisses and love
To be sitting high above the gates of heaven.

You need not even discuss with me,
Your finalized will and “good will”,
Because, to make me happy as a son,
Is for me, to be reassured that you enter God’s kingdom.

As many and numerous times I’ve acted badly to you,
It’s just because I’m living in a different life style,
But I know as a fact that I will never work,
As hard as you have, in your younger years back home.

You and I will verbal fight for different things we believe in,
But there is one thing no one can take away from us.
This will keep us together, beyond death to us part,
And this is the great strength and length of “Mother-Son”.

Poem Number 131 - I Shall Never Leave - 12/7/1986

It doesn’t feel any different to me,
To be aging to year twenty-five.
It just feel the same as being twenty-one going to twenty-four,
But mostly of all, it makes me feel that little bit older.

At work, I was treated like a king,
With a terrific card and an edible cake.
Then, as the afternoon came, so linked up all the drinks,
As best wishes from every individual, were told to me.

At home, when I arrived it was completely different,
The atmosphere was all right, though tense.
There is no hard feeling that I think of mum,
But arriving at ten to twelve on your twenty-fifth is dumb.

No eruptions of blustered and directed stupid phrases,
Should have been thrown at either of us.
Yes, I know that mum wanted it to be special,
Yes, in know that deep down inside, I did hurt you.

If you wanted you and me to share it: to be a special night,
You could have told me that somewhat before.
As the time we both share is so precious,
That I have got a goaled-life, in front of me.

Don’t take me wrong “mother”, for this is true,
But what you must remember is that I’ll never leave,
Nit in a mental or emotional point of view,
But only in a physical way, soon shall do.

Poem Number 97 - Overseas Maker - 22/5/1986

She was away for such a long time,
To see her native country and relatives,
When she left, last year in December,
Shedded a few tears, so I could remember.

She left to Paris with Anne-Marie,
So that she wasn’t by herself, there.
Poor Dad had been left with me!
For breakfast, supper and tea,

Although, there were a few rough times,
My father treated me, oh so kind!
We knew we had each other to put up with,
But that feeling of real ‘father-son’ came up.

At times, I was amazed to hear the encouragement,
That he was presenting, all the time to me.
I thought he had changed being a little lonely,
But that was not to be.

The last week before Mum arrived,
The arguments were being lashed at me.
When mother arrived, I was there to greet her,
And cry with happiness in my eyes.

She had not looked tired, but overjoyed,
To see the three of us waiting with glee.
To be back home, where the cows go to the paddock,
And to express and show pictures of her trip.

Those four and a half months, that went past,
For me, the time seemed to linger on…
Yet now, only weeks away,
No questions asked or answers for Mum.

Poem Number 30 - Family Christmas - 20/12/1983

Christmas is a time for all the family,
Gifts are given to the family, all around.
Times of rejoice and happiness are remembered,
As Christmas, is in the month of December.

Pretty collared Christmas wrappings,
Are tied up, with bows on the presents.
There are all sorts of boxes: large and small,
And on them decorated: red and white ribbons.

The decorated Christmas tree, lightens up the room,
We are all going to open the presents, real soon.
While wrapping the scattered paper, on the floor,
Smiles all around and no one says<”that doesn’t matter”.

As each gift is explained to everyone; one by one,
All parents enjoy, while the children have fun.
Christmas is not yet over, after all that,
The family has their Christmas lunch or dinner, which is a great feast.

Poem Number 9 - Young Couples - 13/10/1983

If you weren’t married to the one, you love?
And your relationship is going very well,
Like an innocent young couple,
Getting to know each other, for the first time, is well.
Do you think this is wrong?
For two compatible people, living together?

Husband and wife, its such a smooth life,
No real hassles or biffs, between each other at all.
As when we’re together, the warmth is within us,
As we both know so very well.
And all our friends care so much for us,
To see us getting married, as 'husband and Wife'.

Then there’s my mother,
Who thinks she understands,
That our love is a true love,
That’ll always extend.

And my so-called, “Father,”
Who seems to cause more trouble with my mother,
As it doesn’t seem to help,
The relationship between Michelle and me.

We’ve just spent some more money on ourselves,
Buying things together, bringing us further happiness.
Taking away the strings that is attached to my mother,
And finally enjoying, the result of our expenses.

We went away, one long weekend ago,
Away from our troubles and problems, of everyday
I made Michelle cry,
On the night we stayed away,
I know and I will always keep from her,
The reason for letting her cry.

When it hurts, to hear one’s past,
To talk about the future,
You talk about more confusion,
And remembering, how we both got together.
As we found, that in life, there is a lot more worth living,
In this small world of ours.
