FROM THE POET

This is a series of poems written by John Svododa over a number of years. There are times of peak-where numerous poems were written & there are also times of lows where there are long periods between each poem. As the author is trying to reach a goal of 1001 (and then retire!!) it was never envisaged that this would be done over a short period of time. Poems can be humorous, ridiculing someone or something, show a meaning of hurt or love or even project feelings that not necessarily be directed to the same person/thing, can be a reflection of life or to be life. Most poems are trying to send a message to the reader be it not understandable or nonsense.

The idea of this poet is not to have any ill feelings against anyone but to be read by young whom can learn about life – and by the elderly look back at what could have been. Some are very personal- but who cares when you are currently living in a life that has total enjoyment. Suggestion is not to criticize but to take in the enjoyment of creative poetry make it meaningful and thus may be you can be an author.

Poem Number - Daughter Of Peace! 10/6/2014

A daughter is a sweet person that is like a golden rose,
She is feminine, soft, white as snow as she leans to grow,

She is the daughter that all parents hope for to have,
She is the daughter of proud parents, that gave her to birth.

A daughter will listen, learn, do and act the life she wants to have, in time,
A daughter will have easy decisions to make and make in a line,
A daughter will follow when young and later stand beside her parents,

A daughter will take the from the fishermen, the fish that needs to be cook and eaten,
A daughter will do her best to complete to her ability her highest education,
A daughter is the peacemaker when times of trouble,
A daughter will not get her feet wet in deep mud and rubble.

A daughter knows best when to care and love for others in deed,
A daughter is loved and to be loved by her marrying husband,
A daughter will have children so she will also be a mother,
A daughter will tend, feed, clothe her child and give it her wonderful nuture.

A daughter is a daughter forever, a mother in the future,
A daughter is a blossoming flower with such sweetness of scent,
A daughter is there and here, when her parents are needed and close to death,
A daughter says the words that places peoples hearts and lives, to rest in peace.

Poem Number - Is It All About Me? 2/6/2014

Is it all about me that lives in this world,
Is it all about me to have followed my parents,
Is it all about me to complete my high school education,
Is it all about me to grow up and and have friends.

Is it all about me to bring home a girlfriend,
Is it all about me to advertise my love for someone else,
Is it all about me that a woman chose myself for everlasting love,
Is it all about me to ridicule others an not feel shame.

Is it all about me that d the married the woman to share my life,
Is it all about me that we are from different backgrounds,
Is it all about me that both my wife and myself have children.
Is it all about me that I took a stand for Public Transport
                           within the community.

Is it all about me that I can speak to one another openly
                           to hundreds,
Is it all about me that every day I worry what lies ahead,
Is it all about me I have humiliated others by leaving
                     provocation of the community.

Is it all about me that I ashamed others for not finishing a job
Is it all about me that others are happy and I may be sad,
Is it all about  seme that I need be loved by others,
Is it all about me that I have served and not served more,
Is it all about me and not about loving my beautiful wife.

Is it all about me and not listening to God's call,
Is it all about me doing something bad rather than not at all,
Is it all about me that makes the world listen,
Is it all about me that I know when to turn one.

All I wanted in my life since my father passed away,
Is the world and our community to have each person a happy day,
Now time has come to place closure of what I have done as a
                               community group,
And a new page in my life is now to care for the people in my
                               family group.

I ask f no one to judge myself  of my actions,
I ask that we care and love one another,
As God and Jesus so truly love you,
I ask this on behalf of The Father, Son and The Holy Spirit.

Poem Number 272 - The News That Carried On - 26/2/1988

By now the time is over two months,
Since our much celebrated  day of marriage,
And yet there  friends of mine still learning it,
With plenty of total shock also to my embarrassment.

But as more  know of such good news,
My emotions are enlightened by such passing of news,
And yet my wife who has little  of her own friends over here,
Makes good friends from day to another.

For nearly a month she has committed herself to work,
To do a job that is physically hard tough work,
But her own reward is to have cash in her hand,
And be out of the hornet's nest, of our little home.

How tired she is to come home after work, of some days,
To commence the household  duties feeling tired at nights.
Yes Nirmala will finish what has to be done for us,
And to no rest she will end up collapsing in bed, waiting for me.

For me, many days have passed since our day of marriage,
A day that I will always remember in my heart, forever lasting,
A night and day that will show up in my memory of lightness,
And of course....the important decision of a life time comes true. That's news!

Poem Number 221 - The Human Cycle - 25/10/1987

We are all born to live and eventually die,
But yet, there is a life, everlasting life,
After this death on this human earth,
This is the human cycle that is made of its worth.

Poem Number 89 - The Next Day - 23/5/1985

In this world, a world of fun,
I believe that life is not so miserable,
It depends upon the individual,
Oh yes! The individual’s life!

When we wake up in the morning,
We will join the human rat race.
To travel to work and keep on talking,
This will put us, in our own place.

Arriving back home, you’ve got to realize,
That the next day is going to be the same.
So put your feet up for an hour or so,
To relax and think about your, “Sweetheart”!

Poem Number 48 - The Top Of The Tree - 21/2/1984

When I look at my life: I imagine my life as a tree.
I begin at birth, as a seed,
And then the roots, spring from beneath me,
These roots represent my family.

I begin to grow like a stem,
All because of them.
One of those roots, is broken in the latter,
I think thinks reflects my real father.

Only a short while later, a new root grows,
And attached to my stem, the branches they grow.
Halfway is my life, there’s a branch that grows short,
And on the other side, a branch is still growing.

This particular branch, never stops growing,
But has small bends and curves, in the beginning.
My stem is not at all so straight, nor upright,
And there is a branch above this branch, which also growing.

This particular branch has got numerous of small branches,
All reaching out in one direction,
With leaves as green as pastures,
Which I know is God’s recreation.

Beneath all branches I have mentioned,
One other branch is growing, directly towards the sun.
It doesn’t reach the top, but it is three-quarters of the way there.
As the rest of the tree is slightly bare.

Till I reach the top of the tree,
All of this is my present life and I!
As I cannot tell, what is ahead,
The very top, is my death.
