FROM THE POET

This is a series of poems written by John Svododa over a number of years. There are times of peak-where numerous poems were written & there are also times of lows where there are long periods between each poem. As the author is trying to reach a goal of 1001 (and then retire!!) it was never envisaged that this would be done over a short period of time. Poems can be humorous, ridiculing someone or something, show a meaning of hurt or love or even project feelings that not necessarily be directed to the same person/thing, can be a reflection of life or to be life. Most poems are trying to send a message to the reader be it not understandable or nonsense.

The idea of this poet is not to have any ill feelings against anyone but to be read by young whom can learn about life – and by the elderly look back at what could have been. Some are very personal- but who cares when you are currently living in a life that has total enjoyment. Suggestion is not to criticize but to take in the enjoyment of creative poetry make it meaningful and thus may be you can be an author.

Poem Number - Foreign Parents

This is the time we think of our sins against others that have passed away,
The ones that gave us life, suffered pain and nurtured us to growth, in each way,
They that paid for your clothes, food, drinks, drove us to school,
They that checked you report and sometime when from hot to cool.

They smacked us in need, they yelled as we had to be yelled,
They gave only food and water for one week for my words of back hand,
I not know that should I have  been listening more closer to them,
I would have been what they wanted me to be for them.

For I not knew the hard lives they lead in there country of origin,
Coming from wars where lives were lost in millions,
They they came here with no father, no mother and no brother or sister,
They that started a family with pride of joy no matter if it was girl or boy.

I now plead for their  the voices of Mum and Dad to be heard,
I now ask for they listen in heaven for my prayers to be heard,
I now ask God for forgiveness for not making me hear them, then,
I now know I much love they had for me and for to them.

As each year passes, as each month passes, as each day passes,
The great memmories shared are the great memories cared, in minutes,
For I am the son of parents that made my life easy to live,
And now as I remember them, have my children easier in their life.

Bless Mum And Dad
