FROM THE POET

This is a series of poems written by John Svododa over a number of years. There are times of peak-where numerous poems were written & there are also times of lows where there are long periods between each poem. As the author is trying to reach a goal of 1001 (and then retire!!) it was never envisaged that this would be done over a short period of time. Poems can be humorous, ridiculing someone or something, show a meaning of hurt or love or even project feelings that not necessarily be directed to the same person/thing, can be a reflection of life or to be life. Most poems are trying to send a message to the reader be it not understandable or nonsense.

The idea of this poet is not to have any ill feelings against anyone but to be read by young whom can learn about life – and by the elderly look back at what could have been. Some are very personal- but who cares when you are currently living in a life that has total enjoyment. Suggestion is not to criticize but to take in the enjoyment of creative poetry make it meaningful and thus may be you can be an author.

Poem Number - A Father Is A Father

A Father is there when a mother gives birth to their child that inhales their first breath,
A Father is there when the child has its first feed and sleeps day on to day nights air fresh,
A Father is there when there's nappies to be changed, washed and cleaned,
A Father is there when the child makes its first opening the eyes discovering its parents.

A Father is there to support the mother, when the she is exhausted, tired and overwhelmed,
A Father is there when the child  does its first crawl using hands and feet on the carpet,
A Father is there  when the child  start using the hand to touch to learn and be told,
A Father is there when the first walk is slowly and struggling to reach one end.

A Father is there when the first work is spoken as each parent finds out is it "Mumma" or "Daddy"!

A Father is ther when they make their first run and ensures there is enough space ready,
A Father is there when they ask their first questions, with many more to come,
A Father is there  when they go to their first day of school and makes sure they end up at home.

A Father is there when the homework is  homework and  and not just playing fun,

A Father is there when the child wants new friends to  come home and eat out in the sun,
A Father is there to take the child to places, for fun and entertainment,
A Father is there to assist and be a guide to dealing with life challenges, goals complete.

A Father is there when a child wins or loses races, games, exams and  be a sideline coach,

A Father is there when a child needs to talk more then listen, just keping in touch,
A Father is there  when a child completes their education, has a new partner and gets married,
A Father is there when a child grows up and becomes a father or mother, God's love fulfilled.

Poem Number - Foreign Parents

This is the time we think of our sins against others that have passed away,
The ones that gave us life, suffered pain and nurtured us to growth, in each way,
They that paid for your clothes, food, drinks, drove us to school,
They that checked you report and sometime when from hot to cool.

They smacked us in need, they yelled as we had to be yelled,
They gave only food and water for one week for my words of back hand,
I not know that should I have  been listening more closer to them,
I would have been what they wanted me to be for them.

For I not knew the hard lives they lead in there country of origin,
Coming from wars where lives were lost in millions,
They they came here with no father, no mother and no brother or sister,
They that started a family with pride of joy no matter if it was girl or boy.

I now plead for their  the voices of Mum and Dad to be heard,
I now ask for they listen in heaven for my prayers to be heard,
I now ask God for forgiveness for not making me hear them, then,
I now know I much love they had for me and for to them.

As each year passes, as each month passes, as each day passes,
The great memmories shared are the great memories cared, in minutes,
For I am the son of parents that made my life easy to live,
And now as I remember them, have my children easier in their life.

Bless Mum And Dad

Poem Number - Warren, You Are Thought Of..... 11/7/2014

Your thoughts are with us in each & every day,

As you take time away and  be more happier every day,

All your mates at work are with you all the way,

So let’s hope that all your life good wishes come true,  as to say.

You’re a man that cheers up the ones that need cheering,

You’re a person that has suffered and come out strong,

You’re the one that talk of good and wants to rid all of wrong,

You’re the one that  is the best for me to learn from.

Your cheer for the winning team,

You help the ones that need that guidance and shine,

You straight talk to All Managers, Team Leaders and employees,

You are the fair  to everyone and the first to provide assistance.

You share your life experiences, with everyone around you,

You touch the old ones and even the young and new!

Your biggest strength is within your own self,

A man you are that even brings the best of pride to one self!

Poem Number - Speak Out And Say! 14/1/2014

There is always a a reason to speak out and say,
Such importance  when to speak to the person/s and the time of day.
It can be said in various forms as long at the listener and receiver are near,
And so can be said  your words ares so spoken only to the ones with open ears.

For if you don't say what you have to say,
Then someone else might say it and say it in a different way.
For only you will know if it is the right time to speak and be heard,
And whether you need to speak again or like a shepherd listen.

Remain silent and others will speak together,
Speak out loud and the rest will be quite humble and not mumble,
Then will the dust build as down comes the feather,
They will watch and learns as it tumbles and tumbles.

Poem Number 287 - Night Dreams - 14/5/1988

For the last few weeks my wife has had weird dreams,
Dreams of wild stories that could be true,
But is  fantasy vision in an atmosphere of calmness,
And its discussion is to remain in the mind until the end of the day.

These dreams  of nonsense actions of the reminiscent past,
Just seem to roam around and float high in one's mind.
To make imagining dreams come out not to be true,
But rule oneself  with images of false pretences.

During the day one's mind can be distracted by quietness,
Or by continual abuse of the persons work ability,
And spend a tiny bit of time daydreaming,
But not being fulfilled as one's mind wanders off.

The truth to the matter lies in the sleep a person perceives,
The quieter the person the room, the more comfortable the
       surroundings are,
The deeper the sleep, if sadness has recently hit this person,
Or total  relaxation is sought by total unconscious sleep.

Poem Number 234 - A Smooth Road - 14/12/1987

It’s been over a week since my one and only marriage,
My one and only marriage to a wonderful woman: Nirmala.
Such an evening it was for me before the night and during the ceremony,
To be joining my hands (of truthful life) to such an adoring truthful wife.

We felt love spread within us, from the first time we met,
We felt honesty, genuine, trust and total fulfilment of each other straight away.
Yet, till this day, we both cannot believe what has been done, in such short time,
To be going out together to know where we both sleep together.

I had two dear friends of mine tell me not to rush the marriage,
They begged and begged me to cancel the wedding date,
But my heart had been set on Nirmala: I just didn’t want to lose her,
Already post-phoned the wedding date a week for my benefit.

Such had been so carefully planned to ensure a smooth road,
The marriage celebrant was a call for our little expense,
The venue to be a backyard garden of her elder sister’s place,
Whilst the food and the drinks were to be catered for by her family.

But there were weeks of searching for an abode to call, ‘Home’,
I wanted to live in the eastern suburbs close to –ex-home,
Yet, after searching for the cheapest in price and décor,
Our last resort was in the southern part of Sydney, lovely ‘Cronulla’.

So in love it was to find a place,
There was plenty of preparation to be done,
To find matching curtains for the bedroom and kitchen,
To purchase some furniture so comfortable to live in.

To purchase the food and drinks to eat and drink,
To pay the bold and rent to officially live in,
To connect the electricity so that power can be used,
To connect a telephone line, so that direct conversation can be made.

To be given a new fridge. Lounge suite and all sorts of towels,
To purchase a suite for myself so that it would match her ’Sari’,
To not cause or create headaches while deciding so,
Just feel so content whilst making these important decisions.

And that is how a married couple should be, in our strange society!

Poem Number 161 - Consistently Writing - 1/9/1986

While traveling to and from work,
You see different faces in or outside your bus.
Strangers they are to you,
But how friendly do they seem?

Beautiful faces of women,
Lipsticked and powdered make-up.
They’re brushed so shiny and straight,
Their blouses and dresses showing off their femininity.

Men with open neck shirts and coats,
Men with entrepreneurial suits,
Men with sunglasses and brief cases,
With different ties, showing off their masculinity.

Some women will show off their golden diamond rings,
Some women will show off their thin untouched legs,
Some women will show off part of their chest,
Using body language, to show whose the best.

Most of the men wear gray-black suits,
An odd old man will be seen with his “thirties chapeaux”,
An odd young man will be wearing a suit of worn-off jeans,
With a haircut, so clean it so distinct as it is cut short.

Amongst these men and women on the bus,
Are the journals of newspapers; advertising daily headlines.
With literature of all sorts: from women’s magazines to love stories,
To one person, me! Whom I can see, is the only person consistently writing!

Poem Number 115 - One Way Mind - 17/6/1986

Cool, calm and relaxed is the air,
Making me float in my dreams.
When the crowd or races, shut their eyes,
To see the way I enjoy these precious moments.

To look upon yonder at the fertile land,
Is the sensation of the beauty of mine.
As if no one wanted to speak to me,
And to bother me with weary problems.

Just breathing in, the warm moist air,
Just wonder what mixture of carbon dioxide, it is in.
Just plain old whinging me,
Releasing my tongue from chained jungle words.

Mot mention that a feathered animal,
Is searching for crusts of uneaten food.
Like a poor unhygienic male beggar,
Pouring outwards his hand, bludging for his living.

Not I can poor enough,
To live a life in the lower class.
Nor can I, with money,
Buy all the world’s brass.

I need not search for what I have before,
As what was lost is now completely found.
Her one track pureness, really intrigues me,
As I also agree in thinking the one way mind.

Equality, I don’t believe in with men and woman,
As there are certain distinct differences in-between.
Of course both sexes are equal in requirements,
To fulfill the other’s needs.

But there are physical aspects of argumental sake,
Which doesn’t clear the other’s mind in achievement.
It’s like, for example after twenty years or working,
Another, whom is efficient, replaces you immediately.

You feel cheated and double-crossed,
And your temperature rises,
As you keep on wondering,
If what you had done was wrong. AND IT WASN”T!

I believe that the man should be a gentle man,
And look after his woman, as a “lord’s lady”,
To comfort her with flourishing kisses,
And to sweep the red carpet for her, every day.

Poem Number 111 - A Phone Call Away - 11/6/1986

How close does she feel from me?
Is an answer I quite know well?
Feeling the touch of her exterior body,
Rubbing against mine: to fulfill one’s wishes.

The atmosphere is different,
We both don’t feel like solid cement.
There’s one thing we love to do,
And that is using all means of communicating.

Her cheeks feel warm and round,
Her happiness, one that is joyfully shown all around.
Her clothes, loosely being walked from place to place,
Her mannerisms are all in, only thoughtful grace.

Dictating expressions of daily on comings,
The small bird that is still humming,
The innocence of life’s expectancy,
Crowding and drowning me with such beaut thoughts.

Imagining her physique and figure,
Touching, just touching myself at rest.
There’s no solution to depart these wonderful emotions,
As we in company, share each other’s search.

During these ongoing composition of thoughts,
I awake from a self-hypnotic dream,
And listening to that feminine voice,
Asking me for an answer to a question.

Stunned, that had drifted away in dream,
I replied to her so that she could understand.
Slamming the telephone, annoyed with myself,
I realized that I am thankful that Carla is a phone call away.

Poem Number 93 - Love That Relieves - 15/5/1986

As the lights dimmer down,
To show the rat race, the darkness,
He ponders in his thinking,
Of such sweet, good times.

Spoken like a poet who knows what love is in all mankind,
If he could only take her on a deserted island,
To dream what all other people dream with patience,
And to life, bear children of God, in such a place.

To plan and architect on the small island of love,
To share the fruits and vegetation with his woman,
To build and construct from wooden trees around,
To commemorate the likings of all human beings,
“This is the world that he loves.”

To govern and ensure that all plans go ahead,
To agree and disagree with the woman he loves.
To brighten his way of thinking to his loves,
To not be selfish to his woman-love, at all.

To understand the standard of living, in this deserted island,
To utilize natural resources to meet only the real needs of man,
To cherish, take care and look after woman-love,
To more than like, not hate but love your woman.e

To her, she should assist him in duties as per her knowledge,
To her, she will provide the other half, of the love,
To help her man-love, build your home “abode”,
To make her man-love look upon her, as a true woman.

To say what is needed to be said, for him to listen,
To encourage strength in her man-love through goodwill and support,
To enjoy the fun that lies ahead, on the deserted island,
To home man-love, for the rest of the body; relive him with “love”.

Poem Number 22 - Weddings At The Scout Hall - 12/11/1983

Have you heard about our wedding plans, at all?

Do you think that we will include for young and for all?
We have definitely made our decision,
For a very good, well known reason,
“The Wedding will be at the First North Bondi Scout hall”.

When the Wedding bells start ringing,
Both man and woman will be singing.
Come to the gathering,
All our friends and relatives!

The pageboy and the flower girls,
The bridesmaids all dressed up in nice gowns,
They are all waiting to hear the music band,
And to see the future of ours, from strength to strength expand.
