FROM THE POET

This is a series of poems written by John Svododa over a number of years. There are times of peak-where numerous poems were written & there are also times of lows where there are long periods between each poem. As the author is trying to reach a goal of 1001 (and then retire!!) it was never envisaged that this would be done over a short period of time. Poems can be humorous, ridiculing someone or something, show a meaning of hurt or love or even project feelings that not necessarily be directed to the same person/thing, can be a reflection of life or to be life. Most poems are trying to send a message to the reader be it not understandable or nonsense.

The idea of this poet is not to have any ill feelings against anyone but to be read by young whom can learn about life – and by the elderly look back at what could have been. Some are very personal- but who cares when you are currently living in a life that has total enjoyment. Suggestion is not to criticize but to take in the enjoyment of creative poetry make it meaningful and thus may be you can be an author.

Poem Number - Warren, You Are Thought Of..... 11/7/2014

Your thoughts are with us in each & every day,

As you take time away and  be more happier every day,

All your mates at work are with you all the way,

So let’s hope that all your life good wishes come true,  as to say.

You’re a man that cheers up the ones that need cheering,

You’re a person that has suffered and come out strong,

You’re the one that talk of good and wants to rid all of wrong,

You’re the one that  is the best for me to learn from.

Your cheer for the winning team,

You help the ones that need that guidance and shine,

You straight talk to All Managers, Team Leaders and employees,

You are the fair  to everyone and the first to provide assistance.

You share your life experiences, with everyone around you,

You touch the old ones and even the young and new!

Your biggest strength is within your own self,

A man you are that even brings the best of pride to one self!

Poem Number 249 - My Department..... - 2/2/1988

This has been an on going argument,
Which started on such a serious note.
It was on the week that we had just signed the lease for the flat,
And things were being done whilst one was at work.

I left the purchasing of furniture and necessities,
With firstly, my wife jointly with my mother,
As each day came to end both at work and in the flat,
I grew tired and restless in not seeing what was being purchased.

There was a round dining room table,
Complete with dining room chairs,
A coffee table, extra food and curtains:
To me occurred too much to get!

It was good that on the Friday before moving in,
All three of us sat altogether to listen,
I was being honest in what I said that night,
And that was firstly I trust them both,
But I wanted to physically see where money was being spent.

Maybe, I had a feeling of greed or distrust,
But I was told the kitchen was ‘ Nirmala’s department’!
So I replied saying, ‘What do you mean by that?’
Mum answered, ‘Who will spend most of the time in the kitchen?’

It was true that Nirmala would spend more time in the kitchen,
But wouldn’t it be fair to ask the same question, for each other room?
I didn’t ask them that question due to decency,
So I let this matter lie ‘under the table!’

Eventually a week or two passed and I was asked to get a copy of the garbage key, cut,
So I said, ‘This is my Department!
Since you have your department, I also have mine.’
But this wasn’t taken too lightly and tempers arose.

So much so, that I mentioned it to my mother one night,
And after a few tempered phone calls from myself,
The air and atmosphere left me on my own,
Not even my wife backed me up a hundred percent!

SO NOW, WHO’S GOT WHICH DEPARTMENT?

Poem Number 227 - Melbourne Cup Fever - 3/11/1987

Melbourne Cup Fever is not such an illness,
It is a historic and family approach to excitement and entertainment,
Continuously enjoying the markets of different horses weighs,
Taking off to the winners and losers of races gone past.

A new winner is won in every race that is held,
A new loser is lost in every race that is held,
And a mare or a stallion is born to be bred,
Bred amongst us all, to nothing other but win.

Is there a chance in life to succeed amongst the best,
Or are we taken upon the true reality of whose best.
Maybe as we race each other just amongst ourselves,
We race against justice, peace and the everlasting life of us.

So be it may, that we endeavour in so peacefulness,
So be it may, that we carry on the job of non-war,
But be it ever so truthful that to survive is to win,
To make us look happier than the bloke in the thin jockey suit.

Are we weight properly amongst ourselves, in true prosperity?
As the wealth and fortune stabilize the society we live in.
Glorious are the days hen victory is so present,
Glorious will the day be, when we all enter heaven.

Poem Number 185 - Sports 'Gold And Green' - 8/10/1996

This is the time when the sporting season changes over,
All the crowds that flourished over to see their winter sports.
Now the turn of summer is around the corner,
The little crowds will cheer when the right time is due.

There aren’t any sports that have just been invented.
There aren’t any sports, which aren’t taken seriously.
For it leaves the individual, to perform to a high class,
To represent the famous ‘Gold and Green’ of its own country.

The competition is not so easy………as others may stand in your way,
But when ever you take a chance on the field,
The yelling voices of the hidden crowds will outcry,
To boost you’re emotional feeling of both internally and externally.

Very few individuals survive their sport, with years of being on top,
Very few will take an injury for being hurt on the grass.
A lot will remain consistent, within their own abilities to use their skills,
And just a few will be paralyzed, or even killing themselves.

The killing sports would be: motorcar racing, bobsled racing,
Motorbike racing and other forms of heavy duty racing,
To the sports of rugby League, Union, Aussie rules, soccer, cricket,
Athletics, swimming marathons or hard endurance races.

Leaving the lighter, pleasant and enjoyable sports:
Tennis, badminton, squash, and ten pin bowling.
Swimming and diving, bicycle riding/racing, gymnastics,
To canoeing, kayaking and all sorts of rowing events.

This gives you a split up of all the cautious sports,
Yet, if you don’t believe me,
Then don’t remain as a spectator,
But be cool, calm relaxed and ‘Good sport’!

Poem Number 175 - Anna Of Basketball - 19/9/1986

A leather-jackettered woman of young,
Whose scores by playing the real game: basketball.
A woman of happy go luck,
And charm of all beaut ages.

A cheerful lady of such quality,
Who looks after her brothers and sisters, like her own family,
May she of woman, she’d like to be,
Live a life of fun and high esteem.

They may say that she’s ‘easy go round’,
But she’s just like any woman; she’s easy to talk too.

There’s a moon beyond the shinning sun,
And Anna’s the sun in front of the moon.
The moon will only appear when the sun goes,
And that’s just what it takes to a man that shows.

Drink like any normal teenage to twenty-five,
There’s an enormous strengthness of disco fever,
When you meet such an energetic female,
That will point-score with playing and accelerating.

Poem Number 169 - Luck And Fun - 13/9/1986

Bateau Bay is a town of houses,
And beyond is a plaza of large,
Mostly on a flat plain fields,
It doesn’t look desolated, but we are in the outer bush.

I’ve met a young crowd, who are all friendly,
Friendly with the atmosphere, so cool and reasonable personality,
All look relaxed and can cope with half country and city life,
Surf, with hot weather is their main social activity.

Many cheers and smiles from the townsfolk differ from the boredom city faces,
I’m getting the feeling that who shows themselves, alive within our rat race.
It’s so good to have a terrific break from, ‘Sydney’,
I’m glad that this invitation has brought me ‘Luck and fun’!

Poem Number 102 - From Section Head To Section Head - 28/5/1986

The boys at work enjoy having jokes,
Since I’ve been transferred, in earlier this year,
In my working years, I‘ve had six section heads,
Of which, “ Lionel” is the best in “not being too hard”.

From “Juliet” who had hated me, for being a “liberal”,
Mind you, her Indian looks and accent,
Was the part that I did like in her,
And I remember her, always complaining about not getting enough money.

To “Wayne Chin” the chief stutterer,
Who, in his own ways created a funny type of relationship.
To get a few words out of “Wayne”,
Was something extremely hard to do.

To “Graham Hugh”, who changed the company’s system,
To suite himself, while causing havoc amongst others.
His words to me, were always hatred,
And yet I was warned about him!

To “Ray parker”, who was pleasant to be with,
His rudeness overran his pride and eagerness to succeed.
Selling policies was his aim, as well as staying within his job,
That’s how; he eventually lost his office job, last year.

To 'Leon Flood', who was always specific about his job,
And in his own way, helpful to me.
Yet, he was the person, who recommended,
For me to go from 'Renewals Department' to 'New Business Department'.

Now “Lionel”, is only 2-3 years older,
Not to mention that he is the same star sign.
He likes to be a joker, in a pack of cards,
My only criticism is that he is a “softie” with juniors at work.

Poem Number 76 - All Wrong - 28/6//1984

Gees! It was fine to be my own lawyer,
To say freely, anything about her,
To legally get back all my belongings, together,
To speak to a court official, appointed arbitrator.

May this, small court know the truth,
And when her body is present, using her influential sweet voice.
She tried to tell side stories,
Which did not get her going any way.

She can try as hard as she can,
To give ”Bullshit” evidence.
But my questioning was straight forward,
Like I had just hammered a nail on the board.

My confidence did not show nervousness,
Right throughout the whole procedure.
But my case was just over half prepared,
I think, she was shocked to hear, what I had to say!

Waiting outside in a car, was her new (prey) fiancé,
Who did not walk out and had nothing to say.
Michelle wanted to find out from me (the same as before),
As why I have left her, just like a hat dropping on the floor.

But I kept my mouth shut,
As I knew, what she was up to.
But what I found out from her,
Makes me glad, that I left her at all.

She told me: she had two children,
And never before mentioned that to me!
Now, for a woman to keep that from a man,
That is totally wrong, for one to do!
