FROM THE POET

This is a series of poems written by John Svododa over a number of years. There are times of peak-where numerous poems were written & there are also times of lows where there are long periods between each poem. As the author is trying to reach a goal of 1001 (and then retire!!) it was never envisaged that this would be done over a short period of time. Poems can be humorous, ridiculing someone or something, show a meaning of hurt or love or even project feelings that not necessarily be directed to the same person/thing, can be a reflection of life or to be life. Most poems are trying to send a message to the reader be it not understandable or nonsense.

The idea of this poet is not to have any ill feelings against anyone but to be read by young whom can learn about life – and by the elderly look back at what could have been. Some are very personal- but who cares when you are currently living in a life that has total enjoyment. Suggestion is not to criticize but to take in the enjoyment of creative poetry make it meaningful and thus may be you can be an author.

Poem Number 239 - Belief Or Disbelief - 31/12/1987

A cheerful drinking session it was to celebrate,
Standing under decorations of Christmas remembrance,
It was the day our Lord Jesus Christ was born,
From a virgin mother of God, Mary and her husband Joseph.

Yet to commemorate this special day,
Is one half-day stop work?
To ‘guts down’ all the food laid in front of us,
To guzzle down the entire alcoholic drinks, all cold in ice.

And whilst this was to be, jokes or serious conversations was in store,
Many of which were singularly attack each young man and woman in the office,
But to one man to whom I hold this famous esteem,
My value of him dropped like a tone of bricks dropping from a hundred-story building.

When our Administration Manager came down to give us good wishes,
There he was with ‘coke’ in his hand, covering up his mouth,
Ears pierced and mouth open, he put his two cents worth,
By an interrupting statement, of which I’ll never forget.

The Administration Manager stated that this would be his first Christmas for me,
As a true and happy ‘God-willing man’,
Then this ‘Coke man’ said something like,
‘We’re all taking bets, to see how long my marriage will last!’

So whether you believe it as a joke,
O r you believe it as being serious,
At this time, I believe it as the truth,
But to now, I’ve have kept my mouth shut.

I’ll one day say what I want to say,
To let some hair go off my chest,
But till now, nothing is needed to be said.
Just wait for the right moment, to give a yell!
