FROM THE POET

This is a series of poems written by John Svododa over a number of years. There are times of peak-where numerous poems were written & there are also times of lows where there are long periods between each poem. As the author is trying to reach a goal of 1001 (and then retire!!) it was never envisaged that this would be done over a short period of time. Poems can be humorous, ridiculing someone or something, show a meaning of hurt or love or even project feelings that not necessarily be directed to the same person/thing, can be a reflection of life or to be life. Most poems are trying to send a message to the reader be it not understandable or nonsense.

The idea of this poet is not to have any ill feelings against anyone but to be read by young whom can learn about life – and by the elderly look back at what could have been. Some are very personal- but who cares when you are currently living in a life that has total enjoyment. Suggestion is not to criticize but to take in the enjoyment of creative poetry make it meaningful and thus may be you can be an author.

Poem Number 239 - Belief Or Disbelief - 31/12/1987

A cheerful drinking session it was to celebrate,
Standing under decorations of Christmas remembrance,
It was the day our Lord Jesus Christ was born,
From a virgin mother of God, Mary and her husband Joseph.

Yet to commemorate this special day,
Is one half-day stop work?
To ‘guts down’ all the food laid in front of us,
To guzzle down the entire alcoholic drinks, all cold in ice.

And whilst this was to be, jokes or serious conversations was in store,
Many of which were singularly attack each young man and woman in the office,
But to one man to whom I hold this famous esteem,
My value of him dropped like a tone of bricks dropping from a hundred-story building.

When our Administration Manager came down to give us good wishes,
There he was with ‘coke’ in his hand, covering up his mouth,
Ears pierced and mouth open, he put his two cents worth,
By an interrupting statement, of which I’ll never forget.

The Administration Manager stated that this would be his first Christmas for me,
As a true and happy ‘God-willing man’,
Then this ‘Coke man’ said something like,
‘We’re all taking bets, to see how long my marriage will last!’

So whether you believe it as a joke,
O r you believe it as being serious,
At this time, I believe it as the truth,
But to now, I’ve have kept my mouth shut.

I’ll one day say what I want to say,
To let some hair go off my chest,
But till now, nothing is needed to be said.
Just wait for the right moment, to give a yell!

Poem Number 171 - Colleen's Lifestyle Appears - 14/9/1986

I see a head of a young feminine woman, sunken in sheets,
For she, who I think is in her old teens.
She is of nice personality and of course, utterly decent:
Colleen is a young girl at heart.

Neatness and tidiness is her joy,
For she’ll grow up with smiles and joy,
To be a woman of a woman,
Who in turn, will like and love a special man.

With no tears dare I say,
That her fortune will come in a day,
And she’ll make individual decisions,
As the change in lifestyle appears.

For bad luck will turn into good,
Meanwhile, all is at safe first,
And the trouble starts to grow,
But your own common sense will tell you more.

Poem Number 160 - How Do I Feel? - 1/9/1986

I feel so remarkably strange today,
My friend from work told me of his weekend,
To be re-united with his old girlfriend,
And I had a surprise phone call from my ex - fiancé /friend.

Am I to believe, that what is quiet is now alive?
Is it right for me to feel that what I said to her, was true?
Is it in my imagination that all she wanted was a friendly screw?
After all the hell and the trouble I’ve gone through, for the years gone by?

To me, it feels like I wasn’t in such a tremendous shock,
But to hear from her speak with force, her voice sounded so soft.
Is it a trick of my heart, playing up on the outside world?
Will it make me be a puppet on a string, “with no visible ties?”

Oh how, do I want to suddenly want to react to her?
Do I hear the doorbell ring and instantly open the door,
And let the pauper and the beggars reach out for more?
Oh god of heaven and earth! Oh God, of creatures of all!

Oh God, please tell me if what I am feeling is so wrong?
Please tell me. Please tell me what is now right.
To be feeling like a blind cat on a rampage, not knowing where to go,
To be amongst a crowd of people, not knowing even of them.

How do I feel to have the cold wind, blowing inside my ear?
How do I feel in the night on a beach, not wearing any clothes on my rear?
How do I feel in a pub; my shout, no cash do I have?
How do I feel to be me and how do I behave?

Poem Number 73 - Squeezed Of Money - 19/6/1984

There is one extra thing than anything else,
That is to find out that, you are somebody else.
A year or so ago, you were lead by a dog,
Now you are feeling on top of the world.

The hurt you caused to outsiders,
Made you realize that they are not victims,
But a lot more closer friends,
Then you’ve very had before.

You have been squeezed of money,
You have been made unfinancial.
But you live and strive,
To fight for what you originally fought for.

It is not hard for you to induce,
And to be sucked in: by the opposite sex.
But of course, if you are strong and secure,
That sort of situation would put you to the test.

Let’s hope you don’t commit yourself,
To anyone else,
Or you would be definitely,
Be left by yourself, on the shelf.

May time take over from indecision,
Until you have such an excellent vision.
You consider the affect on other humans,
The way you approach and deal with them.

You are very fortunate, to stand on your own two feet,
To prejudge everything, towards our outward look, on life.
Seeing and realizing that not everything is not what it seems,
Like an awakening sun, and it’s rays.

Stand up so tall, even if you are small,
There’s nothing to stop the way you think.
You are the pace bowler,
The way you think can make all of us jump.
