FROM THE POET

This is a series of poems written by John Svododa over a number of years. There are times of peak-where numerous poems were written & there are also times of lows where there are long periods between each poem. As the author is trying to reach a goal of 1001 (and then retire!!) it was never envisaged that this would be done over a short period of time. Poems can be humorous, ridiculing someone or something, show a meaning of hurt or love or even project feelings that not necessarily be directed to the same person/thing, can be a reflection of life or to be life. Most poems are trying to send a message to the reader be it not understandable or nonsense.

The idea of this poet is not to have any ill feelings against anyone but to be read by young whom can learn about life – and by the elderly look back at what could have been. Some are very personal- but who cares when you are currently living in a life that has total enjoyment. Suggestion is not to criticize but to take in the enjoyment of creative poetry make it meaningful and thus may be you can be an author.

Poem Number 191 - Babies Of Parents - 16/10/1986

Today’s world would be laughed at,
If we weren’t to wear any clothes on or ‘bodies’.
There would be all sorts of different reactions,
From the complainers to the complimentary.

Babies would look after usual, to their parents,
But think of not washing any nappies or untouchable parts.
Whilst as they grow to an age of seven,
They will want to know about testicles and vaginas.

At the age of thirteen to fifteen, they want to start to experiment on sex,
Learning different ways of caressing tits and touching the other.
By the time they reach an eighteen age,
They’ll joke of the opposite sexes, untouchable frontage.

Whilst young men will for all times be peering, at all the same women,
The women would respond by going to hide.
At twenty-one, they’ll be anxious to bed a young woman,
So that a child of birth, could relive their habits.

Over thirties and forties are the times, when they don’t want experience,
All the men would want to do, is tell their young, of so………
Over fifties, don’t worry about other walking testicles and vaginas,
As at this stage, they have seen it all!!!!!!!!!

Poem Number 190 - Silentness Combined With Reality - 14/10/1986

Stare at face you don’t know at all,
And you’ll get different reactions of each one.
Stare at faces you do not know so well,
Then it would mean ‘terrific’, for you.

To look at mouths of faces,
And see very little smiles expressing some joy,
You look around and what do you see?
Answer: down to earth, trodden down faces.

You search on the outlines of their cheekbones,
You search across to their dark hidden eyes,
You wait until they glance back at you,
Nothing on their faces will be enlightening us.

You search for positive feelings towards happiness,
And little response is your final return.
Not even one! Not one damned movement!
Just silentness combined with reality.

Poem Number 189 - 'Goodbye To Carla' - 14/10/1986

Well, it’s been ‘Goodbye to Carla!’ for over one week,
For the six months that we had shared together,
Has given me a prolonged sense of lasting love,
At least, I can say she cheated me.

As a complete mature twenty-fiver,
I know that this breakdown was due to me, and how I felt.
That is, a feeling of not being tied down,
A feeling of being pushed, just to go out socializing on weekends.

I left her with hurt, but only just a small touch,
To be waiting upon her, hours upon hours.
With my total frustrations hitting the top, boiling point of water,
While revenge was given to her, by using her own medicine.

There is no hatred that is within myself, of her,
But there will always be remembrance of good times.
I would like her to be strong with herself,
Just like muscles flexing, in and out, by herself.

Poem Number 188 - The 'Today' And 'Past' Friends - 13/10/1986

A true friend or a true evil-minded friend,
Is one of our prolonging constant thoughts, running inside our head.
When we look at the ‘today’ and the ‘past’ friends,
How many can we actually say are true blooded friends?

To answer this, is to think back to five or ten years ago,
And count slowly on your fingertips, the number of these ‘past’ friends.
Write them down, whether it is a hundred or one,
Include your wife, husband, parents, in-laws or partner.

Now do the same for your ‘today’ friends, carefully,
Write these down, whether it is a hundred or one.
If you’ve increased by a majority, you know that is because of growing up yourself:
You’ve changed your lifestyle and standards, leaving the real and only credit, to you!

Then again, if you’ve decreased by one or more,
You’ll have to lay your cards on the floor.
And talks to yourself, in why aren’t you satisfied.
If so, try changing your life to meet more people, so they bring happiness into your life.

Poem Number 187 - Deserveth To Be Rewarded - 13/10/1986

A sudden softness of friendly love,
Has jus touched myself a few days a go.
Not a feeling of ultra wet unfresh kisses,
But the feeling of a feminine, caring person.

Teresa, of which we only met for a short time,
Is a woman of long-termed goals; all worked out.
A woman of completeness of direction,
A woman of which a loveable man should be with her, until eternity.

The fragrance of flowers, the touch of soft petals,
The looks of a warm climate and beautiful green country land.
The reality of a true blue woman,
Are the beautiful major qualities that ‘Theresa’ has, within all herself.

We cannot wait until we meet again,
On the first instance of remeeting, we’ll talk,
Talk in honesty. Talk of honesty.
And also the likeness, we’ll both share in.

For god said, ‘let man meet woman of the fruit,
And woman meet man of the bread.’
To mix the right fruit with the right bread,
It is up to you (as the individual), to persist and maintain God’s planned task.

For that we can only do so, by following one’s demand,
So that the pathway to the gate of heaven,
Will be open to those who choose the right path and believe in God,
“For they will reward who deserveth be rewarded’.

Poem Number 186 - Possible Promotion - 13/10/1986

Just a day back and it felt like I was being used.
Just one flex day off and all changes are made.
With one resignation last week and two this week,
There is a great big problem occurring ahead.

To Graham, I approached in the first instance this morn,
To be told to do a job that I really don’t want to do,
Just because one young John Kennedy, they wouldn’t sack,
And that one nineteener was approached before me, for a vacant job.

After consoling my boss and my old boss,
They told me to see the “Administration Manager’.
So I did, in a calm and relaxed atmosphere,
To release what was held in my chest.

Wally had said, that graham had said, in prior,
Published on
That is they can depend on me to get the work done.
Ensuring that the proposals will be through on time,
And routinely do my duties, of day to day.

Also said, was the last chance for ‘J.F.K’ to improve,
And his decision was on a temporary basis.
For then, I felt relieved to be told of what I had been told,
Especially that ‘Wally’ will be trying to bring the department’s moral up to a high standard.

About an hour and a half later,
Graham called me to his office.
To let me know of ‘J.F.K’s’ resignation,
And have a future Section Head in weeks to come.

I did not know that, that it was coming to me,
But I can see why out of the flock I had been chosen.
So when John Lees goes away to another department,
I’ll be running the Section with constant supervision.

No jokes will be, of any nature and kind,
No mucking around, of any kind.
We must work as a complete team,
Not to grudge, but to assist each one another.

Poem Number 185 - Sports 'Gold And Green' - 8/10/1996

This is the time when the sporting season changes over,
All the crowds that flourished over to see their winter sports.
Now the turn of summer is around the corner,
The little crowds will cheer when the right time is due.

There aren’t any sports that have just been invented.
There aren’t any sports, which aren’t taken seriously.
For it leaves the individual, to perform to a high class,
To represent the famous ‘Gold and Green’ of its own country.

The competition is not so easy………as others may stand in your way,
But when ever you take a chance on the field,
The yelling voices of the hidden crowds will outcry,
To boost you’re emotional feeling of both internally and externally.

Very few individuals survive their sport, with years of being on top,
Very few will take an injury for being hurt on the grass.
A lot will remain consistent, within their own abilities to use their skills,
And just a few will be paralyzed, or even killing themselves.

The killing sports would be: motorcar racing, bobsled racing,
Motorbike racing and other forms of heavy duty racing,
To the sports of rugby League, Union, Aussie rules, soccer, cricket,
Athletics, swimming marathons or hard endurance races.

Leaving the lighter, pleasant and enjoyable sports:
Tennis, badminton, squash, and ten pin bowling.
Swimming and diving, bicycle riding/racing, gymnastics,
To canoeing, kayaking and all sorts of rowing events.

This gives you a split up of all the cautious sports,
Yet, if you don’t believe me,
Then don’t remain as a spectator,
But be cool, calm relaxed and ‘Good sport’!

Poem Number 184 - Resigned: Pauline - 7/10/1986

Maybe it’s best to let things of enormous decisions,
Be put aside and lay directly, on the edge of the table.
But to hear of such a beaut persons to resign,
Only my thoughts of that news, would like me to be drowned in a pool.

Pauline! Pauline! You are many of many, that have passed and gone,
You’re pay packet will rise so high in the sky,
Your home loan will be slightly easier to pay off,
Of the little time I’ve known you (as a working companion). It’s hard to believe!

You may leave with a paycheck of big interest,
But don’t think that’s the last you’ll see of us,
As we’ll keep the friendship you have shared with us,
Wrapped up, like golden ribbons, glowing through a bright new rainbow.

No tears, will you shed at your last day of work,
But the memories of different characters, will ponder you through the years,
May we just say, if what you are doing is good for you,
Don’t stop or change your mind, cause you’ll never like the workload here, at ‘Pru’.

Poem Number 183 - Video-matic - 7/10/1986

Video-matic and self-brainwashed am I,
My first big expensive item of my own,
Since I have run out of paying unduly fees,
And boy, doesn’t that make me feel so good.

While my girlfriend screams of self-neglect,
My mind is set on extending my library cassette.
After a week or two my excitement of my new day,
Will diminish to an overlapping boredom.

There’s no excuse, not to be attached to a new object,
Of which, pleasure and leisure can be gained.
There’s no excuse to be not caring for the one that loves,
But an excuse to be left on your own shelf.

So play and record, all movies of all kinds,
But the word is, don’t use too much of your time.
For then, all your lives of nine cats, will be used up,
To be ridden of the present, you have just brought on yourself.

Poem Number 182 - Disco Kate - 1/10/1986

I’ve met a very pleasant woman of fun,
just discoing by madly footsteps in time, or no time.
There wasn’t a moment we didn’t smile,
We twisted and turned for all songs, for quite a while.

It has seemed longer than a few hours we’ve known,
But to no surprise, our feet kept on tapping.
Tapping until we both decided to leave it at rest,
Then I was over heated by the continuous dance.

Then Kate (usually called ‘disco hotfoot-woman),
Asked me to dance with Denise.
I said I would but only but only if I danced with Kate, in return,
Well, I’m still waiting for my return, not drinking a ‘fluffy-duck’!

I kissed her, just gently,
And her lipstick gleamed like silver.
I couldn’t talk to her because of another guy,
But I would have like to talk to her, closer.

I’m not a sexual guy of first night sex,
But maybe the second or more………will do for me!
Fun! Fun! Fun, is what we should all be about,
The people in this world, we should all shout out, ‘Disco Kate’!

To have a pleasant atmosphere all around,
To let me believe that she is fun,
For her to believe I am fun,
Is what I think is the concluding end.
