FROM THE POET

This is a series of poems written by John Svododa over a number of years. There are times of peak-where numerous poems were written & there are also times of lows where there are long periods between each poem. As the author is trying to reach a goal of 1001 (and then retire!!) it was never envisaged that this would be done over a short period of time. Poems can be humorous, ridiculing someone or something, show a meaning of hurt or love or even project feelings that not necessarily be directed to the same person/thing, can be a reflection of life or to be life. Most poems are trying to send a message to the reader be it not understandable or nonsense.

The idea of this poet is not to have any ill feelings against anyone but to be read by young whom can learn about life – and by the elderly look back at what could have been. Some are very personal- but who cares when you are currently living in a life that has total enjoyment. Suggestion is not to criticize but to take in the enjoyment of creative poetry make it meaningful and thus may be you can be an author.

Poem Number 105 - Who Is Sold? - 4/6/1986

Concrete buildings surround the traveling train,
How it feels that I’m walking, to and from work,
When in the early colonial days: horse carts and walking,
Were the only means of transport for all people.

How the generation and years of Australians,
Change from decade to decade.
There are no convicts,
There are no so called, ”Prisoners”!

There are Governors, playing in the background,
Politicians and professions: in the field of science and law.
There are no men chained! No stones to erect by pure blood hand,
Towards a construction of a mechanized building.

Whether it be tribal,
Whether it be country style,
Whether it be city life,
All have changed for better living standards.

Think of us in being in a lucky world,
And we do things that we are told.
Until the day of youth changes to old,
Crying aloud to the person, who is sold.

Poem Number 104 - Each Other's Descriptions - 29/5/1986

What is Carla’s description of her John?
What is John’s description of his Carla?
Is it that the word to describe themselves,
Is with sweet and freshfull words of mutual lovers?

It isn’t marriage that they see in their eyes,
It isn’t hatred they think of, in their minds.
It’s the love for such youngsters,
That endures in their soften hearts.

Will they fight and disagree verbally?
Will they be jealous of another?
Will they comfort in sorrow,
And start a new day tomorrow?

One thing is, as mature adults,
They can talk and communicate to each other,
At any topic…and all choices,
And even end up with a happy voice.

It is hard to indicate both the goods and the bads of life,
But it is simple to compliment and abuse.
For anyone with feeling will do, both of the above,
Just for the sake of indirectly telling that they love.

Perfectionalists do not worry about abusements,
They will always try to self-improve.
May it be that there is nothing, so important,
Than the woman, I love “Carla”.

Poem Number 103 - The First Name You Think Of - 29/5/1985

Carla’s hand is at times warm and cold,
But after a minute or two, it is like a simulated reaction.
Warmth is felt all over her feminine hand,
As if the sun, in the early dawn dehydrates the morning dew.

Her sense of humor, timidness and shyness,
Remembrance of my youth, is pounding all around.
How, when we passionately kiss and embrace,
The sensual thoughts of ‘Big great love’, roams around.

Her bodiness lines up with my own,
Even though, with my over weight stomach,
It gets within both our ways.
It’s a feeling of such strong love, in tender ties and bonds.

To me, I don’t mess her up by approaching her with intercourse,
This is not the way that our future can further ahead.
Certainly, there is strength within myself, to do so,
But I don’t want any ruffles in our relationship.

To others, she maybe a pretty woman,
And to me, she (Carla) is a special woman- being.
Maybe, after a few years pass………of more understanding,
She and I, will legally tie the beautiful bond ship, we now share.

Touching our two warm-blooded bodies, together,
Looking directly at each other’s eyes.
Sensing lovely heat-warm attractive feelings,
Romantic hours of today’s future.

Touch each other’s breast with your hand,
Hold each others hand, closed tightly,
Take a deep, deep breath and blank your minds,
Let the air in and call out the first name you think of.

Poem Number 102 - From Section Head To Section Head - 28/5/1986

The boys at work enjoy having jokes,
Since I’ve been transferred, in earlier this year,
In my working years, I‘ve had six section heads,
Of which, “ Lionel” is the best in “not being too hard”.

From “Juliet” who had hated me, for being a “liberal”,
Mind you, her Indian looks and accent,
Was the part that I did like in her,
And I remember her, always complaining about not getting enough money.

To “Wayne Chin” the chief stutterer,
Who, in his own ways created a funny type of relationship.
To get a few words out of “Wayne”,
Was something extremely hard to do.

To “Graham Hugh”, who changed the company’s system,
To suite himself, while causing havoc amongst others.
His words to me, were always hatred,
And yet I was warned about him!

To “Ray parker”, who was pleasant to be with,
His rudeness overran his pride and eagerness to succeed.
Selling policies was his aim, as well as staying within his job,
That’s how; he eventually lost his office job, last year.

To 'Leon Flood', who was always specific about his job,
And in his own way, helpful to me.
Yet, he was the person, who recommended,
For me to go from 'Renewals Department' to 'New Business Department'.

Now “Lionel”, is only 2-3 years older,
Not to mention that he is the same star sign.
He likes to be a joker, in a pack of cards,
My only criticism is that he is a “softie” with juniors at work.

Poem Number 101 - Honey, Baby, Sweetheart And Darling - 27/5/1986

Honey, baby, sweetheart and darling are all expressions,
Used to describe: a lover, married partner or fiancé.
To their companions, on all levels,
Within the society of today’s world.

Someone who uses, “Darling”, is usually used in the upper class,
Who uses the word to keep up, with the times.
It is rare that the male sex, means it,
Yet, also commonly used by the female sex, with deep meaning.

Surfies, street gangs and small juvenile groups, in society,
Will continually say, “Baby!” or “Babe!” to their girlfriends.
Women will not call their men, “Babe!” or “Baby!”
As it doesn’t suite the woman of today.

“Honey!” is prescribed to both men and women, of all ages,
And is a soft touch word, to say to anyone’s heart.
The word is usually said at a stage,
Where both man and woman, have agreed to live life together.

“Sweetheart” is a meaningful description of a close partner,
Who has that 'love' inside themselves.
Smiles are always left on one’s face,
While one’s heart is kept on pace.

Everyone at least, once in their life,
Will say one of these, “Honey, baby, sweetheart and darling”,
Because they have learnt from their forefathers,
And here, I present four examples:

“Hi Darling! Is everything ready for tonight?”
“Hey Baby? Come on out with me tonight?”
“Oh honey, that’ sounds great!”
“Hello sweetheart, is everything alright?”

Poem Number 100 - Passionate Kisses - 23/5/1986

Sparkles of champagne, glistened in front of me,
The hot ‘Rock and Roll’ music, suddenly stops,
To me, the world is switched “Off”,
So all I can hear is Carla’s voice.

Softness and sweetness of her clear crystal words,
The words that ignite excitement within myself.
So calm, cool and relaxed is the atmosphere,
To find us celebrating Carla’s new job, here.

She pours more to me, while walking,
I take little notice and keep on sipping.
Her head spins around,
In her imagination.

It’s a night of two or three coffees,
To recover from the tipsiness.
That has made us share,
The joy of the passionate kisses of love.

Poem Number 99 - Wishes For Good Luck - 22/5/1986

There was a young boy called, “JFK”,
Who I’ve known only through work, for a while now.
His nickname is “Hyper”,
And he enjoys his girls higher.

One day this young boy,
Had decided to buy wheels,
Instead of a car,
He’d get himself a two-wheeler.

At work “JFK” is a practical joker,
Just like a few others, who did it for laughter.
If it was one joke not to be,
It happened to poor little Johnny.

After having his scooter delivered to work,
He’d be delighted to show the bike off.
Riding it up and down the back lane,
While men at work are watching him, from a crane.

As he did go to lunch to see someone leave work,
He turned up back to work, in a drunken-sod state.
His scooter was a passion, of which he was thrilled,
For the last couple of months, had been rough on him.

The scooter wasn’t to be found.
The scooter disappeared!
And that had been stolen, the unsecured scooter,
In temper and frustration he over-reacted.

Cheer up “JFK”! It happens to all of us,
For it may pop and the Police, they locate.
So don’t go for broke or even bust,
Take it easy and we will wish you ‘Good luck’.

AS WE ARE ALL BEHIND YOU!
