FROM THE POET

This is a series of poems written by John Svododa over a number of years. There are times of peak-where numerous poems were written & there are also times of lows where there are long periods between each poem. As the author is trying to reach a goal of 1001 (and then retire!!) it was never envisaged that this would be done over a short period of time. Poems can be humorous, ridiculing someone or something, show a meaning of hurt or love or even project feelings that not necessarily be directed to the same person/thing, can be a reflection of life or to be life. Most poems are trying to send a message to the reader be it not understandable or nonsense.

The idea of this poet is not to have any ill feelings against anyone but to be read by young whom can learn about life – and by the elderly look back at what could have been. Some are very personal- but who cares when you are currently living in a life that has total enjoyment. Suggestion is not to criticize but to take in the enjoyment of creative poetry make it meaningful and thus may be you can be an author.

Poem Number 101 - Honey, Baby, Sweetheart And Darling - 27/5/1986

Honey, baby, sweetheart and darling are all expressions,
Used to describe: a lover, married partner or fiancé.
To their companions, on all levels,
Within the society of today’s world.

Someone who uses, “Darling”, is usually used in the upper class,
Who uses the word to keep up, with the times.
It is rare that the male sex, means it,
Yet, also commonly used by the female sex, with deep meaning.

Surfies, street gangs and small juvenile groups, in society,
Will continually say, “Baby!” or “Babe!” to their girlfriends.
Women will not call their men, “Babe!” or “Baby!”
As it doesn’t suite the woman of today.

“Honey!” is prescribed to both men and women, of all ages,
And is a soft touch word, to say to anyone’s heart.
The word is usually said at a stage,
Where both man and woman, have agreed to live life together.

“Sweetheart” is a meaningful description of a close partner,
Who has that 'love' inside themselves.
Smiles are always left on one’s face,
While one’s heart is kept on pace.

Everyone at least, once in their life,
Will say one of these, “Honey, baby, sweetheart and darling”,
Because they have learnt from their forefathers,
And here, I present four examples:

“Hi Darling! Is everything ready for tonight?”
“Hey Baby? Come on out with me tonight?”
“Oh honey, that’ sounds great!”
“Hello sweetheart, is everything alright?”
