FROM THE POET

This is a series of poems written by John Svododa over a number of years. There are times of peak-where numerous poems were written & there are also times of lows where there are long periods between each poem. As the author is trying to reach a goal of 1001 (and then retire!!) it was never envisaged that this would be done over a short period of time. Poems can be humorous, ridiculing someone or something, show a meaning of hurt or love or even project feelings that not necessarily be directed to the same person/thing, can be a reflection of life or to be life. Most poems are trying to send a message to the reader be it not understandable or nonsense.

The idea of this poet is not to have any ill feelings against anyone but to be read by young whom can learn about life – and by the elderly look back at what could have been. Some are very personal- but who cares when you are currently living in a life that has total enjoyment. Suggestion is not to criticize but to take in the enjoyment of creative poetry make it meaningful and thus may be you can be an author.

Poem Number 216 - Face Of Smiles - 20/10/1987

Smiles galore, was the message of last Sunday,
Where it was my first outing with my decided girl of future.
We had kept our hopes on it being such a warm and adventurous day,
And I think God must have made the day for us, and not for anyone else.

Being so excited in this such memorable day (in my diary),
I woke up with such anticipation, eager to start the day on time.
Writing down my lively plans of the kind of marriage, we’d like,
I felt like, to push the train, closer to my point of arrival.

Before I could knock on the front door, of her sister’s house,
There she was in such beauty of a woman, with power of flowers.
Her hair all combed to suit one’s own delight,
Her dress that flourished with soft green flowers, also with a touch of with ray of light.

Her lips creamed with red lipsticks of deep fresh strawberry,
As I sneak-looked upon her charmful face of smiles,
From the moment we were dropped to the train station,
Our hands wouldn’t separate, the love we shared.

We talked of our future, we asked questions of our future,
We walked so slowly, to join our lips together,
Showing each other the care, love and affection,
That we will share for the entire rest of our married lives.

Our hearts came so close to throbbing on time,
As she touched me with such tenderness and care of a kind lady,
And I kept stopping from talk, to a passionate kiss
Yet, neither one of us were embarrassed of being publicly known.

At times I kept thinking of the living life we will be living,
To be satisfying each other’s, by most of the methods of all mankind.
As I feel so warm and happy, deep down inside me,
The doors of locked dams open out to be seen.

Leaving a smooth air of security, for a long time I haven’t had,
With dreams and thoughts are bound in realistic love,
To chosen and to be chosen, is a gift from almighty God,
But be wise, careful and to be true selectively on your partner is a dream of your life.

For a woman to agree to what is aid by a man,
For a woman to listen so carefully, to what is being said,
To keep the peace, whilst minds and bodies are set at ease,
T’is the proud ness of a strong and very good relationship between any people.

The close of the day had seen the opening of hearts, for both of us,
Like a discovery of an untouched country of many desires.
