FROM THE POET

This is a series of poems written by John Svododa over a number of years. There are times of peak-where numerous poems were written & there are also times of lows where there are long periods between each poem. As the author is trying to reach a goal of 1001 (and then retire!!) it was never envisaged that this would be done over a short period of time. Poems can be humorous, ridiculing someone or something, show a meaning of hurt or love or even project feelings that not necessarily be directed to the same person/thing, can be a reflection of life or to be life. Most poems are trying to send a message to the reader be it not understandable or nonsense.

The idea of this poet is not to have any ill feelings against anyone but to be read by young whom can learn about life – and by the elderly look back at what could have been. Some are very personal- but who cares when you are currently living in a life that has total enjoyment. Suggestion is not to criticize but to take in the enjoyment of creative poetry make it meaningful and thus may be you can be an author.

Poem Number 282 - Silent Question - 28/4/1988

God gave gifts of such beautiful endless day to me,
From the beginning I had wished that the day had not come to an
      end.
For it started at work with confusion and humour,
And finished with a blessing of gifts and laughter.

It was  born to be that the day would be such a wonderful day,
While arriving at work to see office furniture to be re-arranged,
Only for  one 'Boss' was to gain all view of his staff,
But, with not consulting with the other departmental officers                  provide negativism.

And as the other office arrived at work in disbelief,
The chief of the department called-ip a special meeting of needs,
With only two not liking the internal moves,
This caused upset and total confusion with all staff.

Then during the day the idea had popped up into my head,
To contact the Indian Consulate-General - to find out many things,
Like Indian movies, that are spoken in Hindu and subtitled in
      English,
The consular General was open to me with everything.

He gave me books ( one especially Hindu religious one),
The other about India entirely,
He had showed me his friendship,
Her also had a silent openness of excitement!
