FROM THE POET

This is a series of poems written by John Svododa over a number of years. There are times of peak-where numerous poems were written & there are also times of lows where there are long periods between each poem. As the author is trying to reach a goal of 1001 (and then retire!!) it was never envisaged that this would be done over a short period of time. Poems can be humorous, ridiculing someone or something, show a meaning of hurt or love or even project feelings that not necessarily be directed to the same person/thing, can be a reflection of life or to be life. Most poems are trying to send a message to the reader be it not understandable or nonsense.

The idea of this poet is not to have any ill feelings against anyone but to be read by young whom can learn about life – and by the elderly look back at what could have been. Some are very personal- but who cares when you are currently living in a life that has total enjoyment. Suggestion is not to criticize but to take in the enjoyment of creative poetry make it meaningful and thus may be you can be an author.

Poem Number 211 - The Wife - 18/9/1987

Sleepiness and tiredness shown on wintry nights,
T’is not the reason of being such alike.
Though, the countless trips to and from work and home,
Can present a different story of the thoughts of one’s own.

Anxious to get back home to bed the wife for the night,
Whilst the wife fears of the food preparation ahead,
And cuddles her children with words of a human housewife,
Then ponders of wild dreams of murder, for the husband arriving late.

His drunkenness shows no respect for the family,
Her questions, a little to make him feel left out.
But to no avail he awakened the very next morning,
And demands for his wife to make bed and breakfast for him.

Angers feelings grow in her heart of broken glass,
She hides these feelings when her children speak to her.
She telephone calls her mother and also her best girlfriend,
As they comfort her from making her mind, go round the world.

Lead her not into darkness; she pretends to commit murder,
But he that has caused this entire nightmare only wanted her for money.
Rich as she may have been, before the children were born,
The memorial rose he gave to her (just ten years ago), she thorns!

Poem Number 210 - Important Campaign - 15/9/1987

On the twenty-sixth of September, ninety eighty-seven,
There will be a Statewide Local Government Election.
And in the Municipal Election in Waverley,
The Liberal party will duly be elected.

For Richard Davidson who’ll win the Ward of Lawson,
For Jim Markham who’ll win the Ward of Waverley,
For Carolyn Markham who’ll win the Ward of Bondi,
And Derek Nathan who’ll win the Ward of Hunter.

They will all work hard in the important campaign,
To bring the promises of the party to the Waverley community,
To remember that all the promise of the last election,
Have been received well throughout the whole Municipality.

The Bondi Junction redevelopment program,
The Bondi Beach beautification to restore the buildings.
And to redevelop the Hotel of Bondi Beach for business and for tourism purposes,
But to the State government that had blocked this development ‘with rocks in their head’!

Poem Number 172 - Walkers In The City - 14/9/1986

Mathew, I’ve only known though Paul,
Mathew Watson, oh so young and tall!
He ensures he keeps a blocked memory,
Of all girls and feminine acquaintances.

From the snobbish bitch of a kind,
He’ll know them from feet to their mind.
After the early hours of the morn,
Mat will sleep usually beyond dawn.

From waiter to a sales representative of records,
He’ll eventually do well for himself.
Just like silver coins changing to bright gold,
And he doesn’t like girls who are just bold.

For a country town folk of now,
He can certainly make a city fellow learn,
The difference of attitude and dress,
While the millions of walkers in the city, don’t careless!

Poem Number 209 - Season Of Love - 8/4/1987

For is it the winter that sheds the tears,
Or is it the summer that makes those smiles?
For the everlasting life from life,
Is the result of how you live life today.

You and I will never for happy days evermore,
Nothing on earth will split us, far apart.
For we will count the good years of our relationship,
And never count the bad years: not even one.

For is it true, that I heard you love me so,
Or is it true, that there will be no love between us?
For God’s sake and for your own self,
Tell me your answer, oh, true heart of mine!

Poem Number 208 - Biological Making - 26/3/1987

The biological making of a complete dreamlike woman,
Is to the man not true to be, in the future to him.
His eyes sparkles at each individual woman’s appearance,
To generate madness and sexual excitement, of all.

The first look is the breast size,
(Or otherwise known as ‘Bust’),
To ensure that the breasts are fully grown,
To its fullest function.

Each woman has different sizes and shapes,
But all have the same body parts and functions.
The hair will grow or be cut in different stages,
This is good for the man to pull out.

The most important and special part is the vagina,
Or in slang words means, ‘ Cunt’.
This brings beautiful life to small wonderful babies,
This part is the start of biological study for scientists.

Genetics from both men and women,
Cannot be scientifically broken down.
Yet each day is bringing new developments,
Towards research and how each human is born.

Poem Number 207 - The Art Of Selection - 10/3/1987

The art of selection from other selections, is progress,
The more you can select from, the more there is quality.
It is a an art that takes time to adapt, to it,
It is a result of a person with self-satisfaction.

In our every day lives, we choose and select different items,
We choose the food we eat, the habits we do, the work desired to do, and so on…
Simple selections are east to overcome,
It is the difficult ones that make you use your head.

The time you choose one item from the other,
Possibly may bring a better quality of the selection you choose.
Your perfection of selection will be entirely decided by yourselves,
No one can set the standard of your selection, except you!

The most important selection in a single person’s life,
Is the special selection of choosing your partner for marriage.
This type of selection will determine the future of your life,
It will and should bring a decision of excitement and satisfaction.

So you can see that everyone is involved or affected by every day selection,
No one can say that they don’t select anything everyday.
This poem is one of the selected poems; you have decided to read,
That is a fine selection!

Poem Number 206 - Battle Of Competition - 3/3/1987

Company Directors and Chairman of big business,
How will you achieve the profit, of a year to come?
How will your investing fund arise?
Will they result from the total invested interest, left over?

Also how will you have your company administered?
Will you have one General Manager and sixteen assistants,
Of which, individually they are responsible for another sixteen managers,
And who in turn, are in charge of thirty-two to sixty-four employees, each?

Well, the decision is yours. You are the main chief.
The chief of Indians, who maybe in the forefront of battle, everyday,
The battles of fighting for survival, rights of ownership,
And the most important battle: competition.
