FROM THE POET

This is a series of poems written by John Svododa over a number of years. There are times of peak-where numerous poems were written & there are also times of lows where there are long periods between each poem. As the author is trying to reach a goal of 1001 (and then retire!!) it was never envisaged that this would be done over a short period of time. Poems can be humorous, ridiculing someone or something, show a meaning of hurt or love or even project feelings that not necessarily be directed to the same person/thing, can be a reflection of life or to be life. Most poems are trying to send a message to the reader be it not understandable or nonsense.

The idea of this poet is not to have any ill feelings against anyone but to be read by young whom can learn about life – and by the elderly look back at what could have been. Some are very personal- but who cares when you are currently living in a life that has total enjoyment. Suggestion is not to criticize but to take in the enjoyment of creative poetry make it meaningful and thus may be you can be an author.

Poem Number 294 - Brotherly Marriage - 3/7/1988

We were newly married and yet we were asked to help a new
      marriage,
Our brother 'Ali'  had been working with Nirmala and didn't know
      what were the stages,
He had little friends and  the friends he had  not approached them,
Of recent, he had  approached us assisting him in marriage to his
      lady of dreams.

He originally was from Pakistan and was Muslim,
Imagine he asked a couple that practice Hindi and catholic to
      assist him.
We had no regrets, we felt honoured with joy and happiness,
We met his wife to be, we were all smiles wound our nest.

We felt a new bond was formed,
bond of friendship that would over last others,
All we did was arrange a marriage celebrant,
And advise them the requirements for marriage in Australia.

All (to me) was a man that wanted to continue his life in Australia,
Not re-enter Pakistan will all the trouble they have.
We think of her, we think of the glowing sun,
Her smiles makes us all have the moistest fun in the world.

The funny thing  bout the wedding is that after working for  his
     boss,
At 'Mumtaz Mahal Indian Restaurant' and also Nirmala working
     for the boss),
But to see the boss act like a servant to us all: the guests,
Calling us 'Kind Sir', and 'Kind Madam'  that was  a slight to
     share.

The day was glorious and we hope  that both Ali and Susie,
Have long lasting relationship forever and ever, Amen!
